Community Rules
Make 27Naira useful, safe and unmistakably human.
These Rules apply to everyone using 27Naira and to every username, profile, post, comment, question, image, clip, vote, message, report, opportunity, 27Signal, store and listing. By creating an account or contributing, you agree to follow them. Context and public interest matter, but calling something a joke, quote or repost does not remove responsibility for foreseeable harm.
1. Eligibility and account integrity
- You must be at least 18 years old to create or operate an account.
- Use one account in good faith. Do not evade a restriction, sell or transfer accounts, share credentials, automate fake activity or coordinate accounts to mislead others.
- Pseudonyms are welcome. Do not impersonate a person, organisation, employer, public body, news source or 27Naira representative, and do not falsely claim a qualification or verified badge.
- Keep your email secure and tell us promptly if you believe the account has been compromised.
2. Participate in good faith
- Challenge claims and actions without sustained personal abuse, stalking, intimidation, dogpiling or unwanted sexual attention.
- Do not threaten, encourage or celebrate real-world violence, or direct others to target a person.
- Do not attack or exclude people because of ethnicity, race, nationality, religion, sex, gender, disability, age, health condition or another inherent or legally protected characteristic.
- Use accurate titles, the correct Sub-Sphere and enough context for others to understand the contribution. Do not deliberately derail conversations or flood communities with repetitive content.
3. Protect people from serious harm
- No credible threats, instructions or coordination for violence, kidnapping, terrorism, trafficking or other serious crime.
- No content that promotes suicide or self-harm, gives actionable instructions, or targets a vulnerable person. Supportive discussion and recovery resources are allowed.
- No sexual exploitation, grooming, non-consensual intimate imagery, sexual extortion, deepfake sexual content or sexual content involving anyone under 18. Apparent child sexual abuse material must not be reposted even to condemn it—report it privately.
- No graphic violence for shock value, glorification of atrocity, or exploitation of injured, deceased or distressed people. Documentary or newsworthy material may be restricted, warned or removed depending on necessity and risk.
- Urgent danger belongs with emergency services. 27Naira is not an emergency-response service; call 112 in Nigeria where appropriate.
4. Respect privacy and consent
- Do not publish private addresses, phone numbers, identity documents, financial details, passwords, one-time codes, medical records, precise live locations or other personal data without a lawful and compelling reason.
- Do not threaten to expose private information, encourage others to identify an anonymous person, or republish personal data after it has been removed.
- Recordings from private settings require appropriate consent. Public-interest reporting will be assessed against privacy, safety and proportionality.
- Anonymous posting hides the author from the community, not from authorised safety review or a valid legal process.
5. Do not deceive, manipulate or defraud
- No phishing, advance-fee fraud, romance scams, fake charities, pyramid or Ponzi schemes, fabricated investment returns, manipulated payment evidence, malware, account theft or instructions intended to enable fraud.
- Do not buy, sell or coordinate votes, comments, followers, reports or accounts to create a false impression of popularity, consensus or trust.
- Disclose a material commercial relationship, sponsorship, free product, affiliate link or political payment when recommending or promoting something.
- Satire, parody, synthetic media and materially edited media must be labelled when a reasonable person could mistake them for authentic content.
6. News, public-interest and factual claims
- Link the most direct and authoritative source available for official decisions, datasets, public statements and breaking claims. Clearly distinguish fact, allegation, estimate, forecast, opinion and satire.
- Do not knowingly publish false information that is likely to cause violence, panic, voter suppression, dangerous health behaviour, financial harm or interference with an emergency response.
- Corrections must be visible. Do not silently edit a material claim so that earlier replies become misleading.
- NaijaPulse summaries must be original, proportionate and source-linked. They must not reproduce a full third-party article or remove material context.
- AI-assisted NaijaPulse drafts require a human editor to open and validate the source before publication. An AI draft is not evidence that a claim is true.
7. 27Clips, images and intellectual property
- Only upload media you created, are licensed to use, or may lawfully use. Credit is courteous but does not replace permission.
- Every 27Clip needs an accurate title and caption. Add a direct source when it republishes news footage or supports a factual claim, and do not present old or unrelated footage as current.
- Do not remove watermarks to disguise ownership, upload pirated films or music, or use another person’s work in a way that infringes copyright, trade mark or publicity rights.
- Rights holders can report specific content through the Help Centre with the URL, work claimed, basis of ownership and contact details. Knowingly false claims may lead to enforcement.
8. NaijaAnswers and verified expertise
- Share experience and general information honestly. Do not present speculation as professional advice or use a badge outside the scope for which it was granted.
- Medical, legal, financial, immigration and safety answers must avoid diagnosis, guarantees or instructions likely to cause serious harm, and should direct readers to current official sources or a properly licensed professional.
- Verified-expertise badges show that evidence was reviewed for a defined subject area; they do not guarantee every statement. Forged, expired or misleading credentials result in badge removal and may result in account action.
9. Verified Opportunities
- Opportunities must link to the employer, funder or another reputable primary source and accurately state eligibility, location, deadline and application route.
- No application-fee scams, recruitment impersonation, unlawful discrimination, trafficking, requests for banking credentials or guarantees of employment.
- Expired, filled, withdrawn or unverifiable opportunities may be labelled or removed without notice.
10. NaijaStores seller and listing rules
- Describe the actual item, seller, total price, condition, material defects, broad location, availability, delivery terms and any applicable warranty accurately. Used or reconditioned items must be clearly identified.
- Use current images of the item. A representative image must be labelled; stolen images, hidden defects, bait pricing and unavailable stock are prohibited.
- A fulfilled listing must be marked fulfilled or removed promptly. Administrators may close stale, expired or fulfilled listings.
- 27Naira provides listings and conversation tools only. It does not take payments, hold funds, provide escrow, arrange delivery, authenticate goods or guarantee a buyer, seller or transaction. Statutory consumer rights between buyer and seller are not waived by this statement.
- Never request or send passwords, one-time codes, complete card details or online-banking credentials through 27Naira.
11. Prohibited listings and transactions
Do not list, request, arrange or promote:
- Stolen, counterfeit, pirated, recalled, unsafe, expired or unlawfully imported goods.
- Firearms, ammunition, explosives, disguised weapons or instructions/components primarily intended to create them.
- Illegal drugs, controlled substances, prescription-only medicines, unapproved medical products, poisons or hazardous materials.
- Human organs or tissue, sexual services, trafficking, adoption or custody transactions, or exploitation of any person.
- Endangered wildlife, protected species, illegally harvested natural resources or animal cruelty.
- Alcohol, tobacco, nicotine/vaping products or other age-restricted products.
- Fake identity documents, certificates, academic work for impersonation, stolen accounts, hacking services, malware or tools primarily intended for unauthorised access.
- Unlicensed investments, securities, deposit-taking, loans, betting, lotteries, cryptocurrency schemes or guaranteed-return products.
- Items or services whose possession, sale, advertising or delivery is unlawful in the relevant Nigerian jurisdiction.
27Naira may restrict additional categories where legality, safety or verification cannot be managed responsibly.
12. Keep 27Signal current, broad and safe
- Report only a service condition or safety issue you can observe now. Use a town, district or neighbourhood—not GPS coordinates, a house number or a precise live location.
- Do not include names, phone numbers, accusations, rumours, unverified casualty figures or language likely to create panic.
- Corroborate only from your own observation, and report restoration only when the condition has genuinely changed.
- “Community corroborated” reflects independent member responses; “officially confirmed” means an administrator checked a named source. Neither label guarantees conditions are identical everywhere.
- Administrators may escalate a well-corroborated alert to the homepage, add context, reduce distribution, mark it disputed or resolved, or remove it.
13. Spam, automation and platform security
- No unsolicited bulk posting or messaging, repetitive promotion, keyword stuffing, scraping private areas, fake engagement or automated account creation.
- Do not probe, bypass or interfere with authentication, access controls, rate limits, review queues, storage rules or other security measures.
- Responsible security research must avoid accessing other people’s data, disrupting the service or publishing exploitable details before we can respond. Report a suspected vulnerability privately through the Help Centre.
14. Reporting and urgent complaints
Use the report control on the relevant post, comment or listing, or submit a tracked Safety report through your account. Include the URL or content identifier, the rule involved and concise context. Do not weaponise reports against people you merely disagree with.
- Immediate danger or suspected crime: contact the appropriate emergency or law-enforcement service as well as reporting to 27Naira.
- Non-consensual intimate content, child safety or a credible threat: receives urgent triage. We aim to acknowledge a substantiated complaint promptly and take the action required by applicable law, including the Nigerian platform code’s 48-hour standard where it applies.
- Other reports: we aim to complete an initial review within seven days, although complex or high-volume matters can take longer.
15. Enforcement
We consider context, severity, intent, reach, evidence, prior conduct, vulnerability of affected people and the risk of repetition. Depending on the issue, 27Naira may:
- Ask for a correction, warning label, age/access restriction or missing source.
- Reduce distribution, close a listing, remove content or preserve it in a restricted evidence record.
- Remove a badge, reputation benefit, store access or another feature.
- Temporarily suspend posting, voting, messaging or commerce functions.
- Ban an account, including related accounts used to evade enforcement.
- Notify an affected person, service provider, regulator or law-enforcement body where required or reasonably necessary to prevent serious harm.
We record the reason for material account decisions. An account suspension preserves sign-in where practicable so the member can read the reason and appeal. Severe child-safety, fraud, security or imminent-harm cases may require immediate action without advance notice.
16. Appeals and restoration
Unless law or an urgent safety risk prevents disclosure, a member can see the reason for a material account decision in Safety & appeals. Submit an appeal within 30 days of the decision, identify the affected content or date and explain what was missed.
- We aim to acknowledge an appeal within 72 hours.
- We aim to decide it within 14 days. If more time is required, we will provide an update.
- A different reviewer should handle the appeal where staffing permits.
- A successful appeal restores the account or content as soon as reasonably practicable, except where restoration would be unlawful or technically impossible.
- Repeated identical appeals or abusive submissions may be closed without a new review.
17. Changes and governing standards
These Rules are interpreted alongside applicable Nigerian law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018, the Cybercrimes legislation and the NITDA Code of Practice for Interactive Computer Service Platforms/Internet Intermediaries. Nothing here removes a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
We may update the Rules to address new features, risks or legal requirements. The current version and effective date will remain on this page, and material changes will receive prominent in-product or email notice where reasonably practicable.
